ACityDiscount staff attended the 2019 Taste of Georgia Legislative Reception at the Georgia Railroad Freight Depot in downtown Atlanta, hosted by the Georgia Restaurant Association on February 20, 2019. Elected officials and legislators mingled with GRA members while affiliate restaurants showcased their unique dishes.
As foodservice and bars in the state of Georgia produce sales in excess of $20 billion and provide more than 488,000 jobs and growing, the GRA provides a unified voice for the industry and helps promote a positive environment for restaurants to do business.
The event highlighted the Georgia Grown Chef Program, a partnership between the GRA and the Georgia Department of Agriculture aimed at fostering relationships between chefs and farmers. The program launched in 2012 and every year a new group of chefs is honored at the reception.
The GRA also raised awareness for the Brunch Bill (SB 17), which they helped pass out of the Senate last year. The bill gives communities the power to decide if they would like to roll back the current Sunday on-premise alcohol consumption sales from 12:30 pm to 11:00 am, read more here.
ACityDiscount attended the event as a GRA sponsored guest to meet with fellow GRA members and state lawmakers and to show support for the growth of Georgia’s restaurant and agriculture industry and, of course, sample a few of the many offerings prepared by some of Georgia's best restaurants.
