The North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM) Show was held February 7-10, 2013 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Acknowledged as the leading equipment and supplies tradeshow for foodservice professionals, the show featured more than 550 exhibitors displaying products in over 700 foodservice related categories. The NAFEM Show is four days of discovery and networking with over 60,000 industry professionals from all 50 states and 100+ countries--all exploring or exhibiting the latest innovations and information.
Because we believe that knowledge of the industry is essential to all facets of our company, ACityDiscount was well represented with personnel from multiple departments including sales, marketing, purchasing, order fulfillment, management and accounting.
ACityDiscount took advantage of the biannual NAFEM Show to uncover new products and suppliers to add to our inventory, in addition to visiting existing manufacturers to view recent and future product releases. We also took the opportunity to build upon the existing relationships with our suppliers and manufacturers. Overall it was a great learning experience for the team.
Of the new items featured at the show, many stood out as items to watch out for in 2013. For instance, a new food processor from Waring that can make whipped cream and butter in less than 30 seconds with their patented whipping blade. Another stand out from the show was from Vollrath. At the show, they demonstrated a lid saver dispenser that allows for the end user to get one lid from the dispenser at a time, eliminating any fumbling with a stack of lids. Moffat convection ovens also improved upon several of their product offerings. One change was the addition of a touch screen control onto several of their convection ovens. This feature allows the user to program and upload hundreds of recipes. Induction cooking equipment was a huge part of this year's show. Whether it was an induction range, griddle or a drop in wok, everywhere you turned, there was induction cooking equipment.
There was certainly a lot to take in from the show. Please pay close attention to our product offerings because in the next few months we plan to add many new items from the show.
