Fortify Kitchen & Bar - Customer Highlight

Fortify Kitchen & Bar opened up in April of 2014, and has already become the talk of the small Georgia community of Clayton.  Located near the Georgia - South Carolina border, Clayton is nestled in the eastern part of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Clayton is located near some of Appalachia’s finest farm land, so it is no surprise that when owners Jack Nolan and Chef Jamie Allred decided to open a restaurant in Clayton, they chose a farm-to-table concept.

Jamie had a wealth of experience using farm fresh produce and meat products in his previous work.  He has worked often with Georgia Organics, an Atlanta based non-profit that tries to connect organic farmers with Georgia families, as well as a number of farm-to-school initiatives, and has had a hand in establishing the Northeast Georgia Food Bank’s Whole Community Food Network.  He personally visits all of the farms he purchases food from, and his attention to detail has been noticed by diners and critics alike.  Chef Jamie has been voted among the Best Chefs in America for two consecutive years (2013, 2014).

Chef Jamie was first introduced to the Stack Family when he first began purchasing produce from the eldest son of ACityDiscount founder W.J. Stack, Bill Jr., at his North Georgia farm.  Chef Jamie is a big proponent of farm-to-table, or as he calls it “farm-to-fork”.  The two forged a bond, and when the time came for Chef Jamie to start his farm-to-table restaurant, Bill suggested he head to ACityDiscount.

Jamie and Jack first came into ACityDiscount in late 2013.  They began working with ACityDiscount sales associate Krista Hayes, who helped them furnish their entire kitchen, and in fact, nearly their entire restaurant was laid out, purchased, and delivered within 3 months.  Jamie and Jack had planned on having a ribbon cutting ceremony, and thanks to Krista’s help, they were able to stay on schedule and open in the spring of 2014.

Krista helped Jamie and Jack find a tremendous range of equipment and smallwares perfect for their operation, including: several commercial coolers, a commercial range, two dishmachines, and an ice machine.
