It All Started In Nacogdoches, Texas . . .

Nacho Mama’s Street Taqueria was founded by Ray and Christie Lathan in 2011.  While working in a lumberyard in Nacogdoches, Texas, Ray was inspired to bring authentic Mexican cuisine to the masses.  It was then that his passion for fresh Mexican cuisine really took off.  The idea to serve from a mobile food truck came to Ray during his lunch break on the lumberyard.  During the lunch hour, many of his Mexican co-workers crowded around an old van driven by a Mexican woman.  Daily, she would park her van and sell the hungry crowd an array of homemade tacos, tortas, and burritos wrapped in foil, making it easy for the laborers to enjoy their meals. 

Initially, Ray was uncertain on whether he should be eating from a “stranger’s” van, but once he did, he was astonished by the freshness and superior taste of the Mexican fare.    

In an effort to pursue his love for culinary arts, Ray decided to attend the culinary academy of Le Cordon Bleu in Atlanta, Georgia.  With the porper training under his culinary belt, Ray decided to purchase a Lance Cracker truck and convert it into the Nacho Mama’s Street Taqueria Food Truck.  In order to fully equip their food truck, Chirstie and Ray turned to ACityDiscount.  They purchased everything necessary to operate a full-scale mobile food service operation including a Superior Hoods concession hood system and fire suppression, a Turbo Air refrigerated prep table, American Range cooking equipment including a fryer and commercial range as well as an selection of  smallwares and kitchen tools needed for proper food handling.

Nacho Mama’s Street Taqueria gives Ray and Christie the opportunity to serve their own interpretation of the special flavors served by the “stranger” on that hot summer day in the lumberyard.
